We’re loving one of the latest themes and styles to hit the wedding market – thanks to the latest blockbuster hit from Baz Lurhmann – Great Gatsby Inspired weddings. Let your guests step into the 1920’s and celebrate the glitz, glamour, and jewels in classic Gatsby style.
Here are some of our favorite ways to “Gatsby” your ceremony and reception:
Celebrate the style of the 1920’s in your bridal ensemble. Classic white silhouettes with accents dripping in jewels will give you the perfect luxe look. We especially love this headpiece and jeweled cape on Etsy:
Classic black and white invitations with deco accents can also add a 1920’s design to your affair. We are currently loving these black and white invitations from Wedding Star:
Add glitz and glamour to your ceremony with vintage centerpieces. Fill silver and gold metallic vases with luxurious white blooms, and add vintage accents to the tables for whimsy. Here is an example from a recent photo shoot we designed in partnership with Ten 2 Ten Photography:
Don’t forget to add flair to your cake! Decorate with lace and jewels – or, as we love, these sugar doilies from Etsy:

We recently partnered with Ten-2-Ten Photography to create a beautiful tea-time setting. Scroll through the photos below to see the florals and decor Le Papillon Events used to set the scene:

This week, we are loving the coral and mint (or peach) color scheme that has taken over the wedding industry! Light and airy, this combo allows you to add the right amount of color without being overbearing, and will relax you and your guests with it’s peaceful tones.
Here is one of our favorite inspiration boards, from blogger One Fab Day:
Coral and Mint look beautiful paired with whites, ivories and grays. Consider coral or mint bridesmaids dresses, paired with beautiful bubble necklaces in the opposite color. Invitations are also an incredible way to introduce your color scheme to your guests. We’re especially loving these Vineyard invitations we spotted on Weddingstar:
Bring your color scheme into the details: Use coral and mint on your cake, your programs, and your accessories. Consider color when choosing your food and drink menu as well. Add sparkle with these great earrings from Etsy, and flair with a custom cocktail, like a peach mojito, that represents your scheme in both color and taste.

Shoes are a great bridal accessory – classic or non-traditional, they give you the opportunity to really represent your personal style and personality. Traditional white and ivory shoes look glamorous with a gown. But, if you’re not the traditional type, what options are out there for you? Here are a few ideas:
Spice up your outfit with colorful shoes. Match them to your wedding color scheme, or go for a blue – as this could count as something “new,” “blue,” “borrowed” and even “old” if you find a great vintage pair. Color options are endless:
Wedding shoes, however cute they are, should also provide some comfort (or your poor feet will be dead by the day’s end!). Flat shoes are terrific options for casual and classic brides, and add an element of comfort impossible to find in heels and pumps. Dressed up or dressed down, these shoes are perfect for your entire wedding, or just as your “dancin’ shoes” for the reception. Keep in classic by wearing big bow flats, make a difference to a child in need with TOMS white crochet classics, or go casual with Converse. Let your personality shine.
Having your wedding in a place with an extreme climate? No worries. Even weather proofing can look great! For a snowy affair, luxurious white fur boots add glamour. Rainy day? Hunter Rain Boots in silver add shimmer and shine, and keep your feet dry. Beach wedding? Go barefoot, and add bling with foot jewelry, like this gorgeous piece from Etsy:
Finally, let your shoes do the talking! Fun decals and imprints can spice up footwear and make a statement. These options from Wedding Star (available via our Le Papillon Events shop) are all great choices – Add fun decals to the bottom of your ceremony shoes, or leave lovely tracks in the sand at your beach wedding with these “Just Married” flip flops:
We decided to have some fun last week and partnered up with 45Prodcutions to do the Harlem Shake:
Le Papillon provided the decor and some excellent dance moves! You can see Maria (our owner and masterful planner) as one of the guests at the beginning of the video, and her assistant as the lovely bride. Click the social media buttons below to share this one with your friends!
What’s your favorite Harlem Shake video?
Sending our biggest congratulations to newlyweds Matthew and Natalie! Le Papillon Events helped them plan a beautiful December wedding at the Old Mill Inn in Toronto – a truly amazing location. Take a look at some of the highlights (thanks to photographer Justyna Sokolowski for these photos):
Though the snow is falling and the chill is still in the air, Spring is just around the corner. This means Spring wedding season is closer than we realize!
Spring can be a perfect setting when it comes to tying the knot. Fresh air, bright (and much welcomed) sunshine, green grass… and of course, gorgeous florals. Here, we celebrate some of the best “must-dos” when it comes to springtime flowers.
Spring weddings celebrate color, and your blooms should do the same. We recommend bright yellows, like those featured on the left (found via Pinterest). Consider solid yellow bouquet with a bold ribbon, or mixing yellow with another color to make a statement. Yellow can be a great color to pair with blues, grays, and whites alike.
Yellow not your color?
Consider a bright pink paired with a beautiful green. These colors will really pop against your white dress or crisp white linens at the reception.
Picking the right flower can be just as important for your spring nuptials. Tulips and Gerbera Daises are both excellent choices, as they both come in a variety of vivid colors and styles – everything from pink to yellow, lime green to pure white, lilacs, baby blues, etc.
Both are also known to be fairly sturdy flowers – set to “weather the storm,” if your day is all sunshine, spring showers, or breezy.
